Why Study Wildfire Ecology ?

Study fire's effect on soil, hydrology, atmosphere and vegetation.

Provides hand-on experience with computers and GIS equipment.

Students participate in curriculum-based scientific experience.

Fire is a natural component of the Santa Monica Mountains.

All land in the ecosystem has burned at least once since 1900.

Expose students to career opportunities in management, science, math, and technology.

Foster appreciation for park resources.
