The course will focus on the concept of Biodiversity and how the health and diversity of all life on earth is threatened by human behavior. The course will explore the introduction of exotic species, the loss of native species; and the effects of pollution, global warming and habitat loss. The course will also explore human cultural attitudes and perspectives on non-human species. The course will also address possible solutions to reverse our loss of Biodiversity. more>>
3rd or 4th Grades
Students explore Satwiwa with a ranger and learn about how biodiversity plays an important role in the health of ecosystems. more>>
High School Students
Students learn about the outdoor world, enjoy a guided hike, and assist rangers with a vital restoration project. more>>

Students engage in hands-on experiments and activities that teach about the importance of fire ecology in the Mediterranean-type ecosystem. more>>

Middle School
This hand-on program requires teachers participate in a workshop where they learn how to assist with the program and they get the equipment that is necessary to conduct experiments with their students. more>> |

This Cultural Heritage program is a teacher-led traveling trunk program that compares and contrasts past cultural periods that existed in Southern California and in the Santa Monica Mountains area. more>>
