Research Learning Center Intern

This Network of National Parks is located in one of only five places in the World representing the Mediterranean ecosystem and many species found here are unique. Additionally, these parks include marine, freshwater and terrestrial habitat as well as mainland and island environments making it one of the most exciting areas in which to do research. Use your background in biological or cultural sciences to practice existing skills or learn new ones. Projects for interns include working with researchers to collect data in these National Parks.

Major Duties may include

Data collection

Handle small or large mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates

Collecting vegetation and habitat data

Plant surveys

Bird identification

Stream surveys

Tidepool surveys

Knowledge Required

Educational interest and experience in Biology, Ecology, Cultural Resources or Environmental Studies

Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Word, Word Perfect and Excel is helpful

Ability to work independently or with a team

Work Site and Conditions

Position may require substantial amounts of walking in rough terrain such as dense chaparral or streams

Valid driver’s license is preferred, as intern may drive a government vehicle
